Special Exhibition at Gavnø Castle

Ball at the castle

03.08.2026

In the historic halls of Gavnø Castle, 33 spectacular headpieces and hair jewels created by some of Denmark’s finest goldsmiths and jewellery designers come together. Among them are two unique hairpieces designed by Charlotte Lynggaard and Sofia Lynggaard Normann. Discover the artistic creations and step into a world where jewellery, history and craftsmanship meet.

The Funky Stars hairpiece is designed by Charlotte Lynggaard and features an expressive, multi-dimensional design – reminiscent of a sparkling starburst – crafted in 18 karat gold and brilliant-cut diamonds in varying sizes. At its centre are two large stars formed by graduated diamonds, while individual diamonds appear to float at the tips of the star points, creating the impression of a radiant night sky. Part of The Funky Stars Collection, the design combines a contemporary aesthetic with inspiration from the 1920s, infused with a touch of glamour and timeless elegance. The star motif is a recurring fascination in Charlotte Lynggaard’s universe, where it captures a sense of magic and evokes hope, dreams and imagination.

The Bird Family hairpiece is designed by Sofia Lynggaard Normann and originates from her latest jewellery collection, where small creatures become a story about family, togetherness and the movements of life. The bird symbolises the bond between generations, and this particular bird represents the head of the family – wise and protective. The piece celebrates the invisible thread that connects those we love, offering a poetic reminder that we are all part of a nest, a flock, a story. The hairpiece is crafted in 18 karat gold with a ruby, a blue tourmaline and a green tourmaline. The surface of the gold is carefully satin-finished, silky-matte and polished to give the design depth and a unique texture.
