Each piece begins as a vision, imagined by Ole, Charlotte, or Sofia – and some remain an idea in the creative corners of their minds for years before being realized. In the workshops, tradition and innovation intertwine seamlessly to bring the designer’s visions to life. Here, the intricates of each piece are crafted in close collaboration with a team of specialized craftsmen. All collections and special pieces are crafted by the 40 goldsmiths working in the company’s in-house workshops and by close partners outside Copenhagen.

This makes OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN’s workshop the largest in Scandinavia. Designers and goldsmiths work symbiotically to ensure the company’s standards of impeccable artistry of every piece. The jewellery is handcrafted from 18 karat gold and other precious metals, unique gemstones, and brilliant-cut diamonds of finest quality. In the workshop’s foundry, the pieces are cast, sometimes from several tiny pieces, and subsequently meticulously brought together and further refined. Creating fine jewellery is a precision art, where every detail matters. With steady hands, the goldsmiths create different types of surfaces: satinized, brushed, hammered, and polished. The satinized surface is a time-consuming technique that demands
extensive expertise. Satinizing a precious metal entails carving fine grooves into the surface, hereby creating a distinctive satin texture. The satinized surface has become a brand signature, featured in multiple collections over the years.

Goldsmith Morten Tranekjær has been working at OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN for 44 years.

The goldsmiths working at OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN undergo immersive training in the intricate world of metals and gemstones. Throughout their four-year education to become trained goldsmiths, they develop a deep understanding of the unique properties and behaviours of these material and learn to master a multitude of skills and techniques from around the world. To a goldsmith, tools are the most essential instruments. Each tool holds its own history and purpose, tailored to specific techniques and the natural movements of the goldsmith’s hands. Moreover, each craftsman uses the tools differently and has their own personal flow. Tools are personalized and meticulously maintained, with practice such as oiling the drawplates and polishing the striking surfaces anew. The workshop also features advanced equipment and state-of-the-art technology, contributing to the exceptional precision and quality.

With the workshop being in-house – a decision maintained by the Lynggaards – the craftsmanship lies at the heart of the company. The designers, along with many other members of the house, visit the workshop multiple times a day. From this space, every piece of jewellery is sent into the world and worn by men and women, mothers and daughters, movie stars, couples in love, royals, and athletes. Each piece is a testament to the passion for preserving craftsmanship traditions and outstanding design.
